I have not written in two weeks because nothing was
happening on the diet or the exercise front.
Sure I had legitimate excuses: Anika was not keeping well, my Baba was
busy with work, the maid had taken off to her gaon, Anika’s Baba was in his gaon
a.k.a Singapore- blah blah blah…For me, an excuse is just an excuse. Period
So there I was running around like a headless chicken taking
care of my baby, running the home front like a one woman army till my editor
Radhika from Random House dropped the bomb.
That we’d have to launch my book, He Loves Me Not in the 3rd
week of August.
I panicked. I looked tired and exhausted. The universe had
mercy on me sent my maid back ASAP. Baba, miraculously had time to spare. And
husband got back too! This time, with a
gorgeous maxi dress from Tiffany! I fell in love with the print and the halter
neck . “Wear it for your book launch” he said . I agreed.
So on a bright sunny Tuesday after a fruit breakfast at The
Bagel Shop, I got myself a bright green exercise bag! Next I marched to my
Club. And got myself a brand new man! Akash Bhagat, my fitness trainer at MCA, is the guy I am rooting for. I told
him about my impending doom “I want to look nice in the dress. Can we do
something in two weeks…anything?”
Akash smiled and we
got to work: 20 minutes on the treadmill, 20 minutes on the cross trainer and
yet another 20 on the stationary cycle. Not at a stretch; my regime was
interspersed with some upper body toning and gup-shup with ex-colleague
and fellow author – Naomi Datta.
An hour and a half later, I walked out feeling recharged and
refreshed. No longer was I feeling bad about doing nothing for the last two
weeks!
I got back home and went back to my maxi-dress.
As I ran my hand through the retro print and the Tiffany label my Anika walked
in and squealed “Wow Mumma! Nice night dress!”
